God overruled it.

As we approach Easter, we are reminded of the deep significance of Jesus’ sacrifice. In Matthew 27:37, the charge against Him reads, “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”

This inscription, known as the titulus, was displayed above Jesus as He hung on the cross, meant to declare the reason for His crucifixion. It was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek so that all could see. Yet, while the religious leaders saw it as a symbol of shame, God overruled it—transforming what was meant to dishonor Jesus into a declaration of His rightful Kingship. The very charge against Him became an honor.
In Isaiah 53:12, we read, “And He was numbered with the transgressors…”—a powerful reminder that Jesus took our place, allowing us to be numbered among the saints, not the condemned. He entered into suffering so that we might inherit His Kingdom.
Easter is a reminder of the great cost of this Kingdom, one that could only be obtained through suffering and death. But through Jesus’ sacrifice, we are freed from the debt of sin, as Colossians 2:14 beautifully declares, “By canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.”
This Easter, as we reflect on the cross, let us remember the King who died for us, not in shame but in victory. Let us also remember the mission we are called to—to share His love, His sacrifice, and His Kingdom with a world that desperately needs to know Him.We are so grateful for you and your role in spreading the life-changing message of Jesus’ resurrection.
May this Easter bring you great joy!
